It was my first time actually watching General Conference with my extended family. Everyone was there, my grandparents, uncles and aunts. Normally all the children would play games elsewhere to keep them from interupting.
It was the first time I considered watching the silly conference. I was curious. In the main isle, sitting right behind the speeker was this younger boy who had the most beautiful eyes. If you have amazing eyes I’m won over, no fight required.
Don’t get me wrong – I’m not gay. If you want to put a label on me go right ahead, there’s enough to go around. But this boy, he interested me, and I wanted to know more about him.
But my curiousity did not go far. It wasn’t just wrong and ignorant to pretend to like boys, but it was not possible. It was not possible to like the same sex.
But how contradictory is that? For people to tell me that God says it’s wrong, but the first boy I was interested in was sitting in the frong seat at General Conference. Talk about confusing. If you want me to pass your tests, God, you should probably give me a reason to live.
